Clifftop Coffee has a major facelift

New Chapter for Clifftop Coffee: New Space, New Team, New Equipment

June 2026 | Clifftop Coffee Roasters, Portugal

We've been quietly building something we're really proud of, and it feels like the right time to share it. Over the past few months, Clifftop Coffee has taken some significant steps forward — a new roastery space, a new team member, upgraded equipment, and our first community events. Here's what's been happening.

Our New Roastery: LACO Hub, Portugal

We've moved into our new roastery unit at LACO Hub, and it's a big deal for us. At around 75 square metres, it's a serious upgrade in space — room to roast, to quality check, to think, and eventually to welcome people in. If you've followed us from the early days, you'll know how much we've been operating on creativity and tight corners. Having proper space to grow into feels like a turning point.

LACO Hub has become a real home for us, and we've already had the chance to open our doors to the local community through two LACO Hub-organised events: the Vintage Parade and the Feel Good Coffee Club. Seeing people walk through the roastery, smell fresh-roasted coffee, and connect with what we do has been genuinely rewarding. More of this to come.

Nick Joins as Head of Coffee

We're thrilled to welcome Nick to the Clifftop team as our new Head of Coffee. Nick brings a wealth of experience to the roastery, covering everything from green coffee sourcing and roast profile development to quality control and sensory analysis.

What makes Nick a great fit isn't just his expertise — it's his approach. He's humble, curious, and passionate about coffee in a way that makes the whole team better. His enthusiasm is palpable from the moment you talk to him about a new origin, and his honest, grounded character makes him a genuine pleasure to work with.

Having someone of Nick's calibre leading on coffee quality means we can push further — more consistent roasts, more thoughtful sourcing, and ultimately a better cup in your hands.

New Roasting Equipment: The Diedrich IR-12

We've invested in a Diedrich IR-12 roaster, and it's hard to overstate how much we love this machine.

The Diedrich IR-12 is a 12-kilogram capacity specialty coffee roaster known for its infrared drum technology, which gives roasters exceptional control over heat application and roast consistency. For a specialty coffee roaster like us — where origin character, flavour clarity, and batch-to-batch repeatability are everything — this is the kind of equipment that makes a real difference.

It's also, frankly, a beautiful piece of kit. If you visit the roastery, you'll see why we're proud to have it.

Alongside the Diedrich, we've also invested in a colour reader for coffee analysis. This tool allows us to measure roast development with precision, helping Nick and the team dial in roast profiles and ensure every batch meets our quality standards. It's the kind of detail that separates good coffee from great coffee.

More Coffee, More Choice

With the new space and new equipment, we're also expanding our coffee offering — bringing in a wider variety of single origin coffees, seasonal lots, and microbatch selections. Our sourcing has always been intentional and seasonal, and with Nick on board we're in a stronger position than ever to find and roast coffees that genuinely excite us.

Whether you're an espresso drinker, a filter enthusiast, or just starting to explore specialty coffee, we want to have something that speaks to you. Watch this space — and our coffee collection — for new arrivals.

Community Cupping Event — Mid-June 2026

One of the things we care most about is sharing our love of coffee with people who are curious about it. That's why we're hosting our first community cupping event in mid-June 2026.

A coffee cupping is the industry-standard way to taste and evaluate coffee — think of it as a structured tasting, where you get to smell, slurp, and explore several different coffees side by side. It's how roasters assess quality, and it's a fantastic way for coffee lovers to train their palate and learn what they're tasting.

Whether you're a seasoned specialty coffee drinker or completely new to it, you're welcome. We'll guide you through the process and you'll leave with a much better understanding of what makes one coffee different from another.

New Branded Bags: Coming End of June 2026

And then there's this: our new branded coffee bags are on track to arrive by the end of June 2026, and honestly, it feels huge.

For a small specialty roaster, your packaging is how your coffee shows up in someone's kitchen. It's the first physical impression of everything you've built. We've put real thought into this, and we can't wait to share what we've been working on. It marks a new era for Clifftop Coffee — one that we think reflects where we are and where we're going.

Building Something Worth Being Proud Of

If there's a through-line to all of this — the new space, Nick joining, the Diedrich, the community events, the new bags — it's that we're building solid foundations. Not rushing. Not cutting corners. Just doing things properly, one step at a time.

We're a specialty coffee roaster based in Portugal, shipping across Europe, and we're more excited about this next chapter than we've ever been. Thank you for being part of it.
