More Coffee, Same Price: Clifftop Coffee Bags Just Got Bigger (225g to 250g)

Responding to a recent uplift in Lisbon coffee clients, we thought we'd match the industry standard.

Here's some news that'll brighten your morning: we've just increased the volume of every Clifftop single-origin coffee bag from 225g to 250g—and we're keeping the price exactly the same. For Lisbon's growing specialty coffee community, it's a small change with a big impact on your daily ritual.

Why We Made This Change

When we first launched Clifftop Coffee five years ago, we roasted on a Bullet with limited capacity so 225g seemed to be a good fit! It also allowed us to keep the price down a little.

But as we've grown, we wanted to offer a similar size to most other roasters, too keep the maths simple and easily divisible anmd offer a little something back!

What This Means for You

One more espresso.
If you're a 9-shot espresso person (like half of Lisbon's coffee nerds), that extra 25g buys you one bonus shot. Or dial down your dose slightly and taste even more clarity in the cup.

Two extra filter brews.
Brewing V60 or Chemex? The extra 25g is roughly three additional 50ml cups. That's the difference between a morning ritual and sharing coffee with someone you love.

Fresher coffee, longer.
More volume means your bag stays fresher longer. You're not reaching the bottom of the bag as quickly, so every cup maintains peak flavor—those first 2–3 weeks after roast when everything sings.

Lisbon's Coffee Scene Deserves This

Over the past three years, Lisbon's coffee culture has transformed. You've got third-wave roasters, specialty equipment shops, and communities of people who care deeply about where their coffee comes from, how it's roasted, and what's in the cup.

You've moved past convenience coffee. You're thinking about grind, brew temperature, water TDS, espresso extraction time. You're probably following coffee accounts, attending tasting events, maybe even visiting origin.

That level of investment deserves bags that match.

Our 250g increase isn't just a volume bump—it's us saying: We see the Lisbon coffee community. We see how serious you are. Here's more of what you love.

The Subscription Option: Coffee on Autopilot

Here's the thing about 250g bags: they're going to disappear faster than you think.

If you're brewing filter coffee 4–5 times a week, a 250g bag lasts about two weeks. If you're an espresso drinker doing 2–3 cups daily, maybe 10 days.

That's where Clifftop's subscription service comes in.

Set it and forget it. Choose your coffee, your frequency (bi-weekly, monthly, or custom), and your brew size. Every bag arrives fresh, postage-free across mainland Portugal. No hassle. No running out.

Better value than one-off orders. Subscribers enjoy streamlined delivery and the peace of mind that you're never scrambling for coffee on a Tuesday morning when you meant to order on Sunday.

Explore without commitment. Want to try our Rwandan this month, then switch to the Guatemala next? The subscription is flexible—change your selection anytime, cancel anytime.

For Lisbon coffee enthusiasts, a subscription means:

  • One less errand to run
  • Always fresh coffee at peak flavor (we ship within 48 hours of roasting)
  • The ritual of coffee stays, the logistics disappear

The 2 × 500g bags: Still the Best Value

If you're new to Clifftop, here's a secret that Lisbon's value-conscious coffee lovers have figured out:

Our 2 × 500g bag is still the highest-value way to buy.

Here's the maths:

Option Price (approx.) Price per gram
Single 250g bag €15 €0.060/g
2 × 500g box €49 €0.049/g
Savings €4 per bag 13% discount

That's not a small difference if you're a regular drinker. Over a year, if you buy one box every two weeks, you're looking at €100+ in savings.

Plus, buying the 2 × 500g bags means you're exploring two coffees at once. One week you're dialing in our Ethiopian natural process, the next you're pulling shots of our Colombian microlot. That's how palates develop.

Pro tip for Lisbon residents: Stock one 2 × 500g box every two weeks. Pair it with a Clifftop subscription for your everyday coffee, and use the box for exploration and sharing.

Tasting the Difference

With 250g, you've got room to play. Try new brew methods. Invite friends over for a tasting. Dial in that grinder to absolute perfection without worrying you're wasting coffee.

Some of our favorite coffees to explore with the extra volume:

  • Karengera, Rwanda — juicy, complex, bright. That extra 25g lets you really taste the raspberry and lemonade notes across multiple brews.
  • Friends of Huila, Colombia — smooth, sweet, chocolatey. 250g is perfect for testing different water temps and brew times.
  • Cristina Hernandez Microlot, Guatemala — intense, floral, structured. The extra volume rewards patient brewing.

Fresh Roasted Every Monday

Here's something else to love: every Clifftop bag is roasted fresh on Mondays and shipped within 48 hours. When your 250g bag arrives in Lisbon, it's 3–4 days off roast—right in that window where single-origin coffees express themselves most clearly.

We recommend resting it for 2–3 weeks before brewing. Yes, really. Freshly roasted coffee needs time to degas. Let it sit, and when you finally open that bag, the flavors will be sharper, cleaner, and more complex than if you'd brewed it immediately.

What's Next?

This 225g → 250g shift is just the beginning. We're listening to Lisbon's coffee community, and we're committed to making Clifftop the default choice for people who care about coffee.

Whether it's the subscription for daily ritual, the 2 × 500g box for exploration and value, or single bags for sampling—there's a Clifftop option for your coffee life.

Thank you for being part of this story. Your support has made it possible to invest in better coffee, better bags, and better service.

Now go brew something.

FAQ: The 250g Increase

Q: When does this take effect?
A: Immediately. All new orders include the 250g bags. If you ordered before August 2026, you might receive 225g bags—but all retail bags and subscriptions going forward are 250g.

Q: Does this affect subscription pricing?
A: No. Subscription pricing remains the same. You're getting 25g more coffee at your current subscription rate.

Q: Will the 250g bags fit my grinder's hopper?
A: Most grinder hoppers will handle 250g without issue, but if you're using a very small hand grinder, you might need to grind in two batches. The 2 × 500g box is a better fit for high-volume grinders.

Q: What about the 1kg bags for subscriptions?
A: Not changing. The 1kg option remains at 1kg—it's designed for serious daily drinkers and commercial settings.

Q: I want to try before I subscribe. Where do I start?
A: Pick a single 250g bag of any coffee that speaks to you. We recommend starting with one of our classics: Rwanda for brightness, Colombia for sweetness, or Guatemala for complexity. Brew it, dial it in, and if you love it, the subscription is there waiting.
